Student Progress Policy
色中色 who are enrolled in special enrollment programs such as High School Completion, Running Start, certain Workforce education programs, international students, veterans, and students receiving financial aid may have different and/or additional academic standard requirements and appeal processes to those listed below.
All students must maintain a grade point average of 2.0. 色中色 who do not meet this standard will be subject to the corrective actions listed below.
Procedures
1. First Warning 鈥 Academic Alert: 色中色 whose cumulative GPA drops below 2.0 for the first time are placed on Academic Alert.
- 色中色 are sent an email that encourages them to make an appointment to meet with a counselor to develop success strategies and investigate the various resources on campus that may be of assistance.
2. Second Warning 鈥 Academic Probation: 色中色 whose cumulative GPA is below 2.0 for two consecutive quarters are placed on Academic Probation.
- 色中色 are notified via email that a hold has been placed on their registration pending a meeting with a college counselor.
- The hold may be temporarily lifted for the purpose of registration upon completion of a written success plan developed for the student.
- The written student success plan may include additional appointments with the counselor, required registration in study skill classes, tutoring and/or career exploration.
3. Third Warning 鈥 Academic Suspension: 色中色 whose cumulative GPA drops below 2.0 for a third consecutive quarter and who do not achieve a 2.0 in the immediately preceding quarter are suspended for at least four consecutive quarters.
- 色中色 are notified of the terms of their suspension and the appeal process using the Application for Reinstatement (pdf) via email.
- 色中色 whose appeal is granted or who wish to return after one year will be placed on Academic Alert status and given a referral to see a counselor.
Degree/Certificate Progress and Completion
- These procedures affect all students who are enrolled in certificate or degree programs, and those students who are taking college courses numbered 100 or above as prerequisites to programs.
- 色中色 pursuing the AA who complete 45 credits required for their degree or certificate receive an email regarding their progress toward the completion of their degree or certificate program.
- 色中色 should meet with an advisor or counselor to develop an education plan for completion and to be informed of the District's degree/certificate completion policy so that they may complete necessary requirements within a reasonable amount of time.
- 色中色 who are enrolled in degree or certificate programs must complete their programs in at least 125% of the credit hour program requirements. 色中色 who do not meet this standard may be subject to corrective actions.
