Tuition waivers for out鈥搊f鈥搒tate and non鈥搑esident

色中色 offers an operations tuition waiver that significantly reduces the cost of enrolling at Seattle Central for most non鈥搑esident students.

Workforce Services

Workforce Services programs provide funding for tuition, fees, books and transportation as well as emergency financial assistance and other resources to qualifying students enrolled in a career鈥揻ocused program. Services include:

  • Basic Food Employment & Training Program (BFET): Available to students receiving federally issued Basic Food Benefits (food stamps) through DSHS who are enrolled in a Professional/Technical program.
  • WorkFirst program: Available to students receiving Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) and are enrolled in an ESL, Adult Basic Education, GEDor Professional/Technical program.
  • Worker Retraining Program: Available to qualifying students who are enrolled in a Professional/Technical Program and receive or have exhausted unemployment benefits, are "displaced homemakers," are a veteran of the U.S. Armed Forces, or were formerly self鈥揺mployed.
  • Opportunity Grant: Available to low income adults pursuing an approved program. 色中色 may receive funds to cover tuition and mandatory fees up to 45 credits, and up to $1,000 for books and supplies per academic year.

Don't have money to pay your tuition all at once? 色中色 is pleased to offer this payment plan from Nelnet Business Solutions to provide students with a low鈥揷ost option for budgeting tuition and fees.

Support for Former Foster Youth

The College Success Program provides individual support services, financial resource planning, scholarship assistance and emergency funding.

Support for Dreamer (Undocumented) 色中色

  • Qualify for In鈥揝tate Tuition Rate: HB 1079 is a law that allows Dreamers who have resided in Washington State for the 3 years immediately prior to receiving a high school diploma (or its equivalent) at a Washington school, to pay in鈥搒tate tuition at state colleges and universities. After applying for admission, Dreamers should complete the Washington Higher Education Residency affidavit (pdf) and submit to the Admissions Office in BE1104B1.
  • Financial Assistance: The Washington Dream Act (SB 6523), enables students who are eligible for in鈥搒tate tuition as part of HB 1079 to be considered for educational funding from the Washington State Need Grant. Visit the  website to get started.

College Bound Scholarship Program

The program promises tuition (at public institution rates) and a small book allowance for income鈥揺ligible students who sign up in the 7th or 8th grade, work hard in school, stay out of legal trouble, and successfully apply to a higher education institution when they graduate. Scholarships

The awards nearly $500,000 in scholarships each year. The majority of our scholarships are awarded in the Spring for the following year, some are available on a quarterly basis.

AmeriCorps Education Award

色中色 who have completed their service in AmeriCorps programs can use their education award to help pay for tuition at Seattle Central. After applying for admission to Seattle Central and registering for classes, use the  portal to authorize payment to 色中色. Learn more on the  website.

Federal Direct Loans

色中色 may qualify for Federal loans from the U.S. Department of Education, which have relatively low interest rates, to help finance their education.

Tuition Reimbursement

More and more employers are offering tuition reimbursement as a benefit to both full鈥搕ime and part鈥搕ime employees. Does your employer offer education incentives that you don't know about? Ask your Human Resources Department.

Get Your Funding Back

If your financial aid has been cancelled for not meeting Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP), you may appeal to reinstate your aid. Complete the SAP Appeal form.
