Explore Your Career Options

To get you started, we have a number of online resources that can help you explore career pathways. A brief description of each link is given below.

We strongly encourage you to make an appointment with one of our First Year and Career Services advisors early on to assist you in exploring careers and choosing an academic path that will help you reach your goals.

Seattle Central Resources

  • - Offers career self-assessments and tools to research in-demand careers and educational paths based on interests. The Resume Builder is also helpful for making a new resume and provides example descriptions of tasks to include for work experiences. Site is administered by the Workforce Development Council of Seattle-King County.
  • - The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) offers this handbook where you can research wages and employment trends. Use the filters to find careers that earn your desired wages, and match the education level you plan to achieve. Many career websites look to BLS as their source for national, state, and local data.
  • - This site contains multiple Career Assessments that explore the breadth and depth of career pathways. Also has short videos describing careers.
  • - In using the keyword search, this website makes it easy to identify related careers that have a bright outlook.
  • - Search careers by personality/interests. Career profile wages and employment trends can be viewed nationally, by state, and locally.
  • - Enjoy your current work, but ready for something more? Enter your current job, and receive recommendations for jobs and academic paths that could help you take your career to the next level.
  • - Explore careers and find training and education for jobs in Washington State.
  • - Connects students with online degree programs related to health care but also has career information and a helpful 鈥淗ow Do I Become A 鈥︹ tool.
  • - This website has information on a variety of health careers beyond nursing or physician care. It has exploration tools for Arts and Humanities Majors interested in Health, Environmental Health, Naturopathic Medicine, and Orthotics and Prosthetics, among many others.
  • - This subcategory of Explore Health Careers lets users search the site鈥檚 database with salary and education filters or more personalized filters.
  • Whether you鈥檙e a new graduate from a or other nursing program or a seasoned nursing professional looking for career advancement, you may be wondering how to find, apply for, and land a nursing position. This comprehensive guide intends to tell you everything you need to know, from what to do before you begin your job hunt to after your interviews are completed.
  • EveryNurse is a trusted source of information for nurses seeking higher education, job opportunities, and the resources they need to advance in their careers.
  • College Transfer and Study Abroad Center - Assists students in making the transition from Seattle Central to 4 Year Universities. This includes school and major of study research, application information and deadlines, and general guidance on the transfer process.
  • - Accessible through UC Berkeley鈥檚 subscription, click on a major to see how the degree can be applied in different industries, and what strategies to use to break into the field. See 鈥淥ccupational Outlook鈥 links at the bottom of the page for related BLS career profiles.
  • - Highlights data and information from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics and the U.S. Census Bureau for a variety of academic fields. Each Field of Degree page provides a glimpse of workers with the degree and shows occupations, outlook, and more for people in that major.
  • - Research schools offering majors and programs of interest (especially helpful for any student planning on transferring to a 4-year university). Utilize the filters to narrow your results based on what鈥檚 important to you, such as location, affordability, private or public, diversity, etc.
  • - The National Center for Education Statistics is a university and program search engine with good keyword search. You can select any and all majors that sound interesting at once to see which schools offer at least one of those programs, or you can select specific combinations (ex. If wanting to double major), and select "Only find schools that offer ALL these selections."
